Reliable Art of Carlos Pardo
Monday, October 31st, 2005Charles Matter, Boston Photographer
Saturday, October 29th, 2005This is regarding the services of Charles Matter, wedding photographer operating out of Boston, MA. My wife and I paid him to shoot our wedding on 10/5/02. He delivered where the pictures were concerned in taking the pictures and giving us the proofs.
However, when we (as well as my parents) paid him to assemble albums all we got were excuses for 6 months. He claimed to have lost my parents’ shot list, and told my wife and I that our album was in various states of construction in the bindry. He eventually ceased communication altogether in not returning emails and phone calls in May 2004.
I threatened to take him to small claims court, and still no response. I took him to small claims court in August 2005, won (he defaulted), and am now in the process of having a constable haul him into court to explain how he will repay me. After he defaulted in court, I followed up with some emails pleading with him to do the right thing, refund us, and allow us to put this behind us. He did not respond.
In August 2005, I posted a negative referral and my father posted a negative referral of his business on respond.com. Before Charles Matter wrote rebuttals in an effort to discredit our referrals, he spent a lot of time on the phone with the webmasters of respond.com in an unsuccessful bid to get my posts removed. I know this because I was required to demonstrate the veracity of my claim that I had taken him to small claims court. When I faxed the documents to the webmaster, I was told that Mr. Matter was frantically trying to prevent my referalls from remaining on the site. In his rebuttals, he attempted to extend the amount of time that my wife and I took to order our album in order to pave over the time he actually spent making lame excuses for the progress of our album. In his statement that he is awaiting my parent’s shot list, he is partially correct: he lost my parents’ first shot list and after all the lame excuses, my parents stopped trusting his process. They wanted to see if my wife and I got our albulm before drawing up another shot list and sending it to him. We did not receive our albulm or a response to our manyvoice mails and emails.
In October 2005, a negative referral appeared in respond.com for Charles Matter that was very similar to my referral down to each detail. It was followed with an immediate rebuttal from Charles Matter where he accused me of “further slandering” him by making this “fake” post. I called respond.com to refute that I had written this post and declared that it was my belief that Charles Matter was attempting to slander my good name in having posted this himself. They removed the post and the rebuttal.
My wife and I do not wish for any other couple’s wedding memory to be tarnished as my wife’s and mine have been. If you want to see for yourself, try calling Charles Matter’s phone number (617-541-4060). You’ll find that he never answers the phone. This has been the case from the very first time I contacted him about taking on our wedding in early 2002. Why is that Charles? Are you afraid of having to speak with other disgruntled customers?
Don’t use Hills Plaza Cleaners!
